I work with high-functioning individuals who, to the outside world, look like they have an amazing life. But inside, you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, loneliness and trauma. To manage your feelings you’ve turned to activities and behaviors that, at least temporarily, helped you escape. But now, the things that made you feel better, are making you feel worse. I understand the pain you’re in and the exhaustion you feel. Pretending to have it all together is getting to be too much. You crave peace, happiness, and the ability to live authentically in your own skin. This is where I come in!
I have extensive experience helping people understand how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected. The more you understand how you got in your current situation, the more empowered you are to change it. My approach is supportive, compassionate, honest and educational. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that allows you to freely share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.
For family members and friends
Living with or caring about someone with a compulsive behavior can take a toll on those around them. It’s difficult not to take it personally. Even if your loved one is not ready for help, you may want to consider getting support for yourself. Do any of these sound familiar?
Feeling overwhelmed or confused by your loved one’s behavior
Finding it difficult to talk to them about your concerns
Getting frustrated because your loved one does not seem to understand how their behavior is affecting others
Struggling to find the balance between supporting your loved one and setting necessary boundaries
Finding it difficult to take care of yourself in the current situation
Did you know that growing up in a household where a parent or caregiver struggled with substance abuse, gambling, or some type of mental illness could affect you as an adult?
Difficulty with intimate relationships
Criticizing yourself harshly and never feeling “good enough”
Fear of abandonment
Feeling responsible for taking care of others rather than yourself
Avoiding conflict because you don’t want others to be angry at you
Engaging in people-pleasing behavior
Overreacting to changes that are not in your control
These are some of the common characteristics of people who grow up in an environment with instability and uncertainty. Understanding how a caretaker’s behaviors may have impacted your development is the first step in your own healing.
